My sister Melissa, my dog Shadow & I went on holiday to Prestatyn North Wales in 2014 or 2015. While we were there we decided to visit Denbigh Castle we loved looking around old castles. We both knew this castle was sirpose to be haunted!
So, I drove us up to Denbigh castle, there was a car park right by the castle. Melissa, my dog & I looked around exploring the old castle. We got around to the Upper Gate and walked down a lot of steps, to look at Postern Gate entrance. But while we were down there we both had an ominous feeling of being watched!
Nobody else was around but we both had this feeling of having unseen eyes watching us. We went back up to the main part of the castle, explored the kitchen area and other parts. We saw the deep well in the grounds, and it is said that De’Lacey’s son Edmund fell down the well and died.
We came to a tower with steps leading up on top of the wall. I decided I wanted to go up to have a look, my sister said she would stay downstairs with my dog Shadow. So I climbed up the steps, and got to the top.
There was a few people up there, but they went down after I came up! So I was on top of the wall all by myself. I walked on to the first part of the wall when all of a sudden I heard a ‘disembodied male voice’ shout out “ Help me, help me “.
That shook me up I looked around to see if anyone else was there, but I was completely alone. Then I looked down below the top of the castle wall, and realised I was standing right above the old, deep well. I went quickly back down the steps to my sister waiting for me.
Melissa asked if I was ok, and I said no I heard a male disembodied voice up there! After that we decided to go back to the car, to go back to our caravan we were staying in.
Melissa said to me; we won’t be coming back here again it’s haunted. I turned the car key to start the car engine, and my car wouldn’t start! Tried couple of times but it refused to start! Melissa said it must be the ghosts! I went to knock at the house right next to the castle.
A kind older man answered the door, and I explained that my car wouldn’t start! The man explained to me that the same thing has happened to many other people’s cars in the past, where they refused to start! I was gobsmacked to say the least!
The man said he would jump start the car for me, which he did. He told me to get my car checked over at a garage on the way back. I drove back towards Prestatyn, and stopped off at a garage on the way back to the caravan site.
A kind man said he would have a look, so my sister and I got out of the car we left Shadow lying on the back seat with the windows open. He lifted the car on one of those car lifting platforms, and checked underneath the car etc.
The man came back to me and said he couldn’t find any problem with the car at all! My dog Shadow thought it was funny though being lifted into the air, had a big smile on her face. We both knew then it was definitely the ghosts of the castle that caused that! We vowed never to go, and we never did!
My sister passed away suddenly in July 2021, so I’ve not got to heart to go back there! But I will always remember it!
