A little over 16 years ago, I went to my parent's home to visit them. I had my 5th and 6th children with us. My 6th child is a girl and she was about 15 months at the time.
I was talking to my mom in the living room of the house and the kids were playing on the floor with some old toys. I was sitting in a chair that was in direct line to the walkway in the dining room which led to the stairs of the second floor of the house.
My daughter stood up laughing and circled around as if she was dancing. Then she got down on her hands and knees to crawl. It looked as if she was trying to follow and grab something.
I watched her crawl through the dining room and up the stairs. I stayed about 6 feet or so away from her and just watched. She laughed the whole time and it seemed like she laughed harder at some points as if someone had said or done something funny.
Once she got to the top of the staircase, she stopped, looked around, and then proceeded to climb back down the stairs. No more laughter. She went back to playing with her brother.
My husband has some abilities, so when I arrived home that afternoon, I told him what happened and asked him if he could tune in to explain the experience. I refrained from giving him details so that I could confirm anything he shared with me.
He told me that my maternal grandmother was there at the house playing with our daughter. He said that my grandmother had a toy that looked like a dog and when she pulled it, the dog would wobble and the tail would move.
He also told me that my grandmother was talking to our daughter and making her laugh as she pulled the toy. When our daughter got to the top of the stairs, my grandmother told her that she would see her another time and left. He also told me that my grandmother was very pleased that I was watchful of our kids and didn't interfere with their learning and fun.
The picture below is similar to the toy dog that our 5th child had been playing with in the living room the whole time this incident took place. I looked up a picture of this toy to show my husband at the time and he said, "yes that's the toy!"
