I’ve mentioned an experience my son had in another post and that he’s had a few of them in his life. This one happened about 6 years ago. He was in the Marine Corps at the time and was assigned to an Air Force base where Marines were sent to learn how to fix fighter planes.
Late one night shortly after he arrived at this base he left his barracks to go to the mess hall. Late at night they keep it open so you can get sandwiches and pizza or something else small.
The mess hall was about a half mile away and the shortest way there was to cut across a dark open field that had a sidewalk on it. As he was walking through it he saw a person approaching him from about 20 yards away or so.
My son glanced down at his phone for a couple seconds and when he looked up again to make sure it wasn’t an officer coming toward him because he’d have to stop and salute. He looked up - and the person was gone.
He looked around and behind him. Nobody was there and the buildings were way too far away that anybody could run to nonetheless walk in that short of time. He knows for sure they didn’t pass him.
He was perplexed about it because he knew he saw a figure of a person and could even make out some of their features and uniform in the dark due to the lights from the streets and building nearby.
He went and got his food but throughout that walk and subsequent walks through that field he said he had strange feeling come over him like a heavy creepy sensation.
He couldn’t understand why. A couple weeks later he was walking to the gym during the day and noticed a plaque at the edge of the field. He went over to read it and learned that many years ago a bomber plane had crashed in that field and killed nine of the 11 men on board.
